Can I Borrow Your Phone? I Need to Paint Something.

I was blown away when I read about the June 1, 2009 New Yorker cover that artist Jorge Colombo 'finger-painted' on his iPhone, with an application called Brushes. Look for weekly paintings by Colombo on the New Yorker blog and watch his brush strokes bloom!

These moody iPhone paintings by Disney art director Stéphane Kardos are amazing!

The Brushes iPhone and iPod Touch application has its own Flickr group with regular contributors sharing their art, which ranges from the primitive to the sophisticated. There are more artists at the BrushesApp.com website.

Sketches, another iPhone application, has a huge fanbase too!

The beautiful video illustrating this post is from Steve John's Photostream,  Frommy Studio. Please visit for more from this talented artist of the most unusual and beautiful paintings you have ever seen!

What do you think of this trend? I like it!
